Embarking on Adventures in English Literature
Seniors at Mt. Everest Academy may enroll in either Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature or English Literature. In this general survey English course, we continue to refine professional writing skills while exploring the wonderful world of literature of the British Isles. The origins of our English literary cannon emerged in reflection of the British culture which still underpins a large part of scholarly literary aesthetic today. I hope to share some of my passion for the English language and literature with you this year. From this page, you may access a copy of the course syllabus and retrieve monthly assignment cover sheets. Students will need to obtain complete study packets each month directly from me, either in our weekly study group sessions on Thursday mornings, or any other time there is not another class in session in room 2. During Month 5, we will hold an "Author's Faire" as a Semester 1 project. For now, select an author & novel to read from Semester 1 British Literature Book Choices. Your final product will include a poster display about your chosen author as well as a precis on the book that you selected. For a quick reference, you may want to use is: How to Write a Rhetorical Precis. This promises to be an exciting final year of high school for you. Embedded in our study of literature, we will work on writing formal letters, resumes, and application essays. You should will find that this works in tandem with the senior exhibition preparation and helps you prepare for your next steps in life. |
